Pediatric INSIGHTS - Winter '10

The Spring 2010 issue of Pediatric INSIGHTS

focuses on Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s comprehensive Heart Failure Program through the story of 2-year-old Austin Ball, who benefited from all aspects of the program — from transport on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, to implantation of a ventricular assist device, to heart transplantation.

Also in this issue:

  • Phase 1 cancer studies at Children’s Hospital offer treatment options other hospitals don’t.
  • Children’s MRSA Clinic provides treatment, education, and reassurance.
  • Adolescents’ exercise-related problems: Consider vocal cord dysfunction as a cause.

We welcome your feedback, thoughts and story suggestions. Please share your thoughts with one of our physician liaisons.
